Ir. Chan Huan Ong's Story

Ir. Chan Huan Ong is a seasoned professional in the construction and industrialised building systems (IBS) space, currently serving as General Manager at ICP & IJM IBS, a business unit within the IJM Group focused on high-performance pretensioned spun concrete piles and SMART IBS solutions. He plays a key role in advancing IJM’s adoption of SMART factory processes and automation within precast manufacturing.
Ir. Chan began his career as a Design Engineer at Sepakat Setia Perunding before joining Industrial Concrete Products Sdn Bhd in 2006 as a Sales Engineer. Over the years, he has been involved in numerous notable projects, including the Second Penang Bridge. In 2018, he was appointed to head IJM IBS, a new subsidiary established to spearhead SMART IBS solutions, driving productivity improvements across the construction industry through smart technologies. He has since built a strong track record in innovation, business growth and operational excellence.
Over the course of his career at IJM, Ir. Chan has developed broad experience across multiple facets of the business, with a strong emphasis on IJM IBS’s SMART Factory manufacturing operations. He has played a pivotal role in positioning SMART IBS as a market-driven solution that supports green and sustainable construction while significantly accelerating project delivery. Through the adoption of advanced automation and IR4.0 technologies, SMART IBS has emerged as a transformative solution for mission-critical developments where speed, precision and certainty of delivery are essential. Ir. Chan actively promotes these capabilities through internal and external engagements, as well as strategic presentations to industry partners and key stakeholders.
A key career milestone for Ir. Chan was his appointment as the General Manager at ICP & IJM IBS, where he has overseen the integration of cutting-edge automation systems that enhance efficiency, safety and operational flexibility in precast production. Under his leadership, ICP & IJM IBS continues to position itself as a forward-looking innovator in Malaysia’s construction manufacturing landscape.
